The Marvel Cinematic Universe loses its Hope Van Dyne after a run in the Disney franchise world starring in Ant-Man, Ant-Man and the Wasp, and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania—as well as appearances in the MCU event Avengers films. The Wasp is done.
Actress Evangeline Lilly took to Instagram to announce her retirement from acting, featuring a video of herself taken in 2006. “Ten years from now, where would I like to be? I am terrified to admit this to the rest of the acting world but ideally 10 years from now I’d like to be a retired actress and have a family,” The younger Lilly says. “I’d like to be writing and influencing people’s lives in humanitarian ways.”
Lily is known for her past roles including her breakout role as Kate Austen on Lost, as well as playing elven ranger Tauriel in Peter Jackson’s Hobbit films, as well as, of course, her role in the Marvel cinematic universe as the current Wasp. “I am so filled with joy and contentment today as I live out my vision. Praise God, I feel so grateful for my blessings. Stepping away from what seems like the obvious choice (wealth and fame) can feel scary at times, but stepping into your dharma replaces the fear with fulfillment,” She continued in the video’s caption on Instagram posted on June 3. “I might return to Hollywood one day, but, for now, this is where I belong.”
